Beginning from the Swayambhunath and Boudhanath in Kathmandu, the tour gently settles at the world heritage site of Lumbini. The tour also explores the archaeological remnants of Lumbini and the ancient kingdom during the times of Gautam Buddha.
Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour commences upon your arrival in Kathmandu. Assisted by an experienced tour guide, you’ll embark on a tour of important Buddhist sites around Kathmandu valley. A short drive will take you to Boudhanath Stupa, the largest stupa in Nepal. You’ll also make a short journey up towards Kapan Monastery and explore its beautiful architecture before driving back to Swayambhunath. Another revered site, Swayambhunath stupa is located atop the hill. The tour advances towards Lumbini in western Nepal. The warm temperature of Terai engulfs the region that lies close to India in the south. You’ll explore Lumbini and visit the exact birth site of Gautam Buddha along with Mayadevi Temple, Ashoka Pillar and numerous Buddhist monasteries around the area. Lumbini was enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Today, it is frequented by both Buddhist pilgrims and tourists. You’ll also visit the historical site of Tilaurakot where Gautam Buddha supposedly spent 29 years of his life. Afterward, you’ll visit Devdaha, the birth site of Buddha’s mother and the ancient capital of Koliya Kingdom. Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour materializes into an insightful journey through the history of Buddhism in Nepal which started after the arrival of Emperor Ashoka in 2BCE. Later, the tour concedes with your return to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel; Welcome dinner in the evening in a cultural restaurant
A company representative will receive you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. You will drive along the Ring road and head through narrow streets to reach the hotel. You can rest and relax at the hotel and, later, stroll around the nearby areas. In the evening, our representative will take you to a lavish welcome dinner in one of the finest diners in the city with cultural performance.
Day 02: Visit Boudhanath, Kapan Monastery & Swayambhunath
After early breakfast, you’ll embark on an insightful tour of Buddhist sites around Kathmandu valley. You’ll drive to the Buddhist site of Boudhanath stupa situated in the populous town of Boudha. The area is predominantly inhabited by Tibetans. From here, you’ll drive further east towards the hilltop monastery of Kapan. One of the premier Buddhist teaching centers, Kapan Monastery organizes meditation camps that attract thousands of Buddhist adherents. The day ends with a visit to another popular Buddhist site and UNESCO designated Swayambhunath stupa. Situated atop a hill in the heart of the city, Swayambhunath is one of the most revered Buddhist stupas in the country. 
Day 03: Drive to Lumbini; Explore Lumbini
You’ll embark on a road journey towards Lumbini in the southwest of Nepal that lies almost 260km from Kathmandu. The religious site of Lumbini is located in Rupandehi district in the Terai region. You’ll pass through the populous towns of Bharatpur, Kawasoti, and Ramnagar en route. The tour begins with a visit to the ancient site of Maya Devi Temple. The temple stands adjacent to a sacred pond and Bodhi tree. The site was visited by Emperor Ashoka in 2nd BCE who later built the signature Ashoka Pillar in the temple’s vicinity. If time permits, you can choose to visit the Peace Pagoda. 
Day 04: Visit Tilaurakot and Devdaha
After early breakfast, you’ll drive 54km southwest towards Tilaurakot. The place is popular for being the site where Gautam Buddha spent 29 years of his life. Tilaurakot highlights major landmarks related to the life of Gautam Buddha where he lived his life as Price Siddhartha Gautam before leaving to attain enlightenment. Afterward, you’ll drive east towards Devdaha. Devdaha is a historical site that was formerly capital of Koliya Kingdom and the birthplace of Buddha’s mother. You will indulge in a complete cultural tour of the place before resting for the night.
Day 05: Drive back to Kathmandu; Afternoon free and Farewell Dinner in the Evening
After early breakfast, you’ll embark on a road journey spanning almost 255km to Kathmandu. Leaving the historical city of Devdaha, you’ll drive through the numerous towns of Terai and take a detour towards Kawasoti. From here, the road goes uphill through Gaindakot to arrive at Prithvi Highway. Once at Kathmandu, you’ll be escorted to your hotel. In the evening, your guide will take you for a lavish farewell dinner in one of the finest diners in Kathmandu.
Day 06: Depart from Kathmandu
On this day, you leave Nepal and head to your destination. You can schedule the events for the day according to your flight schedule. Feel free to shop for gifts and souvenirs. We wish you all the best and hope to accompany you on future visits in Nepal.
