Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Valley - 18 days

Trip Overview

Gokyo Village (4,750m/15 583ft) is located at the bank of beautiful Lake Gokyo just below famous mountain viewpoint  Gokyo-Ri. Trekking to Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Valley is more challenging than the regular way to EBC because the trek takes you through the Ngozompa Glacier and high pass Cho-La. In addition, the trek passes all the high valleys, culminating with the climb of Kala Patthar (5,545m/18,192ft) and hike to Everest Base Camp (5,364m/17,598ft). This trek is mostly preferred for those who want to go out of crowed Everest Trail as they find themselves walking through unbeaten trails on High Altitude,  Alpine Forests, Toughest Mountains and culturally rich Sherpa Communities. The Namche Bazaar itself can be a surprising place for you as it has become globally a vibrant small touristic town in this remote corner of the world.

The trek takes you through Namche Bazaar, then branch North West to climb the serene Dudh Koshi Valley to the lake village of Gokyo on the Ngozompa glacial moraine. Use a rest day to explore the valley. A tough climb up Gokyo-Ri for sunrise offers magnificent views of Mt Everest, Cho Oyo, Makalu, and other numerous snowcapped peaks. Then walk down the valley for an hour and cross the 1km glacier to Thangnak. Start before sunrise for the tough Cho-La ascent and long descent to Lobuche. This can be a difficult, cold but very beautiful trek. The trail then rises, for two easier days, to Gorak Shep. After lunch, walk to view the ring of peaks surrounding Everest Base Camp on the Khumbu Glacier – and the icefall towards the summit. From Gorak Shep, a sunset hike up Kala Patthar offers superb views of Everest, the South Col, Nuptse and the glacier below. The next, begin the easier and warmer four-day downward trek to Lukla.

Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Valley - 18 days
Leonardo and Franziska, Frankfurt, Germany

First we were quite suspicous, because Amazing Nepal had only good reviews. But everything was great: Santosh answered many questions we had very quickly beforehand. The organisation was superb. We were met by our guide Tej at the airport. He then helped us organize gear for the trek. Tej is the best guide I have had so far: Experienced, helpful, did everything for our small group and very nice. Without him and our two amazing porters we would have never made it over the pass. Due to the small group size the schedule was adjusted flexible to our group. I can really highly recommend Amazing Nepal and especially Tej as a guide.
The only thing I would recommend as well is to bring your own sleeping bag from home.

Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo Valley - 18 days
Aimee Caldwell, Ausrralia

Booked the Everest base camp and Chola pass trek with Amazing Napal Trek in November. I wanted to organize my trek through a Kathmandu based company and after talking to my friend who already have been to Nepal recommended this company. I was pleasantly surprised at the prompt and detailed response to all my emails.  All my queries were answered and I felt at no time that I was not in control. On my arrival in Kathmandu I was met by Nirmal, a young man, one of the co-founder of the company. He made me feel like I was the most important person that day. I was taken to my hotel and then explained all about the days ahead.  During the trek Amazing Napal team had provided me with an excellent Guide and porter. My guide was a young man named Raju, what a respectful young man. He looked after me from start to finish. Without his aid I do not think I would have managed the Chola pass. All credit goes to Amazing Nepal.

Thank you team Amazing Nepal!!
