Useful Information
Best Season for the Tour:
The ideal time for an Everest Helicopter Tour is during
spring (March to May) and autumn (September to December). These months offer
crystal-clear skies and breathtaking views of the Himalayas. However, flights
are available year-round, including in winter, when snow-covered landscapes
look especially magical.
Tour Duration & Schedule:
The full tour usually lasts about 3 to 4 hours, including
multiple landings. The flight typically departs early in the morning (around
6:00–7:00 AM) from Kathmandu domestic airport. Key stops include Lukla, Kala
Patthar (for close-up Everest views), and Hotel Everest View (for breakfast).
Altitude & Acclimatization:
The helicopter lands at Kala Patthar (5,545m/18,192 ft), the
best viewpoint of Everest. As this is a high-altitude landing, the stop is
brief (about 10–15 minutes) to minimize the risk of altitude sickness. Guests
are advised to move slowly, stay hydrated, and follow the guide’s instructions.
Weather Dependency:
This is a weather-sensitive tour. Flights may be delayed,
rescheduled, or canceled due to poor visibility, high winds, or air traffic
congestion. Flexible travel plans and good communication with your tour
operator are recommended.
What to Wear & Carry:
Temperatures at high altitudes can be extremely cold, even
in warmer seasons. Be sure to bring:
·
Warm layered clothing
·
Gloves, hat, and sunglasses
·
Comfortable walking shoes
·
Sunscreen and lip balm
·
Valid passport or ID card
Weight Limit & Seating:
The helicopter has a weight limit of approximately 450–500
kg (including passengers and gear). In high-altitude segments (above Pheriche),
passengers may be split into smaller groups for safety. Seating is done based
on weight balance and pilot discretion.
Safety and Experience:
Amazing Nepal Trek & Expedition works with highly
experienced pilots and well-maintained helicopters, prioritizing passenger
safety. A detailed safety briefing is provided before boarding.
Permit Requirements:
The tour requires national park and airport permits, which
are arranged by Amazing Nepal Trek & Expedition and included in the
