You can also enjoy the traditional living of mountain dwellers, complemented by the awe-inspiring surroundings and high-altitude flora and fauna. Spend overnight at a lodge.

Day 06: Trek to Dole   (Altitude: 4200 m/13860 ft. Trek: 5-6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today, you will climb Khumjung hill and descend to the east of the village down the broad valley leading to the Dudh Koshi, from where the route turns north. Treading to the ridge top that stretches down from Mt. Khumbila, marked by a beautiful “Chorten,” you will begin to explore Mohang. It is the birthplace of the reincarnated revered monk of Rongbuk Monastery of Tibet, who has flourished Tibetan Buddhism in Khumbu and neighboring regions. Beyond Mohang, you will slide down along the series of sheer switchbacks on a sandy slope to Dudh Koshi Riverbed. Crossing a Dole Check Post of the National Park at Tenga, you will reach Dole, a small village by the riverside. Spend overnight at a lodge.

Day 07: Trek to Machhermo   (Altitude: 4470 m/14750 ft. Trek: 4-5 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Your trek from Dole begins with a steep uphill climb to Machhermo. From the ridge top, you will tread along the widened valley and cross Phangnga Pass, where 40 people lost their lives during a 1995 avalanche. Sliding down to the riverbed and then chasing along the steep trail via the terminal moraine of the Ngazumpa Glacier, you will arrive at a stream. Crossing the stream on a small iron bridge, you will tread along the leveled trail and arrive at the first lake, Longpongo, at 4690 m. Soon, you will sight the second lake, Tanjung Tsho. A short walk from the second lake brings you to the third lake called Gokyo Tsho. The famous village of Gokyo sits just above the lake with an amazing backdrop of Mt. Cho-Oyu. You will have lunch, and post-lunch, you can explore Dudh Pokhari. Spend overnight at a lodge.

Ice-covered rocks make the day's trek tricky with slippery sections. Beginning the trek, you will walk through a rocky ravine to the top of the pass, which is marked by fluttering prayer flags and chortens. The pointed Ama Dablam along with Cholatse, Lobuche East, and Baruntse are extremely beautiful vistas from the top. Now, traversing across some crevasses, you will arrive at Dzongla Village. Spend overnight at a lodge.

Explore and experience the extreme elevation, then retrace your path back to Lobuche. Spend overnight at a lodge.

Day 13: Trek to Chhukung (4,730m/15518ft) via Kongma-la pass (5535 m)   (Altitude: Kongma-la: 5535 m/18265 ft., Chhukung: 4750 m/15675 ft. Trek: 6/7 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Another interesting and adventurous pass awaits you, and it is the highest pass of this trip. You will start walking just after breakfast, following Khumbu Glacier towards the east. The trail is long, steep, and rocky, which is difficult to walk, so you should have plenty of water. Once you reach the top, you will see prayer flags and stone piles, just as on the other passes. You will enjoy the spectacular view of surrounding mountains and glaciers, then descend to the Chukung Valley, which is connected to the Imja Tse Glacier. Spend overnight at a lodge.

Day 17: Trek to Tengboche   (Altitude: 3800 m/12654 ft. Trek: 5/6 hrs. Meal: BLD)

Today’s trek is a pleasant walk along the Imja Tse River. From Chhukung, the trail gradually descends to the lower elevation to the river valley, then climbs up to Tengboche Monastery.
