Mohare Danda is a remote and peaceful hill-top located on the foothills of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks. The quaint trails on the Mohare Danda Trek take you through the old fashioned Magar and Gurung settlements inside the Annapurna Conservation Area. A recently discovered trail, it offers mesmerizing views of the Annapurna and Nilgiri mountains. This trek is also known as ‘Rhododendron Trek’ because you traverse through the lushly decorated Rhododendron forests en route to Mohare Danda. If you’re looking for adventure in solitude, Mohare Danda can be the best trek destination and the best alternative to the neighboring Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. 

The 10-day Mohare Danda trek begins upon your arrival in Kathmandu. You head to Pokhara on a long drive along the Prithvi Highway. Continuing the drive, you make way towards Galeshwor village via the Baglung Highway. You’ll gradually trek alongside Kali Gandaki River to climb the lushly forested trail past Magar villages of Banskharka. Passing Danda Kateri, you arrive at the Magar village of Nangi. Theron, the trail makes a gradual ascent to reach Mohare Danda (3300). From the top of Mohare Danda, you can witness the majestic sights of the mountains in Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Hiunchuli ranges. You’ll retrace your path and begin descending through Gurung villages of Deurali and Ghandruk to reach Nayapul. Ghandruk is another major highlight of the trek where you can enjoy the Annapurna Himalayas with the warm Gurung reception. The trek concedes upon your return to Pokhara All throughout the trek, you’ll completely be lodging at the community-run homestays. The money spent on lodging and meals goes entirely into the development process of the local communities. Mohare Danda trek suits trekkers of any age. Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

A company representative will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. You can rest and relax at the hotel or explore the nearby areas at your leisure.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara by bus. Driving 7-8 hours. Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, embark on a road journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara via the Trishuli Highway. This 6-7 hour journey passes through picturesque landscapes and along the Trishuli and Marsayangdi rivers. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you can enjoy the city's vibrant nightlife.

Day 03: Pokhara to Galeshwor by bus and trek to Bans Kharka (1525 mt.). Driving 4 hours and walking for 3 hours. Overnight at guest house.

After breakfast in Pokhara, drive west on the Baglung Highway towards Galeshwor village. Once you arrive, rest and prepare for the trek. After lunch, trek for 3 hours through lush forests to reach Bans Kharka.

Day 04: Bans Kharka to Nangi (2300 mt.). Walking for 5-6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

Today, you’ll trek through the lush rhododendron forest, ascending towards Nangi village. The trail passes through smaller Magar settlements and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. You can visit the organic farm school in Nangi village.

Day 05: Nangi to Mohare Danda (3300 mt.). Walking for 6-7 hours. Overnight at guest house.

Begin the trek towards Mohare Danda, ascending through oak and rhododendron forests. The trail offers magnificent views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, and Nilgiri. At Mohare Danda, enjoy a beautiful sunset view before staying overnight at an eco-community lodge.

Day 06: Mohare Danda to Deurali (3090 mt.). Walking for 6 hours. Overnight at guest house.

Wake up early to enjoy the stunning mountain views and trek downhill to Deurali village. On the way, enjoy the sights of the Annapurna and Nilgiri ranges. Deurali is a Gurung village situated on the route to Ghandruk.

Day 07: Deurali to Ghandruk (1940 mt.). Walking for 6-7 hours. Overnight at guest house.

Descend towards Ghandruk, passing through lush rhododendron forests, Ban Thanti, and pasturelands. Ghandruk is a beautiful Gurung village with rich ethnic culture and traditional architecture, set against the backdrop of the Annapurna Himalayas.

Day 08: Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara. Walking for 4 hours. Overnight at the hotel.

Descend through paved stone steps towards Nayapul, passing Modi Khola and terraced fields. From Nayapul, take a bus ride back to Pokhara to complete the trek. Enjoy the evening relaxing or celebrating with your trekking team.

Day 09: Pokhara to Kathmandu by bus. Overnight at the hotel.

Bid farewell to Pokhara and head back to Kathmandu. The 6-7 hour drive takes you through forested hills, gorges, and towns along the Trishuli River. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you can explore the city or rest at your hotel.

Day 10: Transfer to airport for your final departure from Nepal.

On your final day, a representative will transfer you to the airport for your departure. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing in Kathmandu.

Useful Information

Accommodations and Meals:

You will be provided a room in a tourist standard hotel, while you are in Kathmandu and Pokhara. During your trekking, you will be provided room in teahouses. Please be informed that you will be sharing the room at teahouses. Please also note that the Annapurna region is located far from the maddening crowd, therefore, teahouses may not be as much sophisticated as one finds them in town.

We will provide only breakfast while you are in cities and three-course meals while you are on trek. This means you will be taking breakfast and dinner at teahouse you stay and lunch in the mid of your trekking. Since the Annapurna region is geographically a remote place, you will be provided only selected but hygienic and organic local foods such as Nepali dal bhat, Tibetan soup, and bread, porridge etc.

Is this trek appropriate for me?

We believe Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderate trek. It has fewer possibilities of suffering from high altitude and thin air. But, it requires inspiration and passion which makes your trek successful. You are supposed to have a light backpack for making your admirable trek. Although you have an average health condition, your positive attitude and strong determination can help to accomplish this trek. For making comfortable walking, adjusting to changing climate, our package manages the facility of acclimatization in needed place as well as 5-6 hours walking per day. If you have already accumulated hiking and jugging experiences that will be beneficial to adjust to the situation. Amazing Nepal cordially requests to have medical checking before you plan to start long trekking and hiking.

Briefing of the Tour:

You will be briefed about the trek, you will be given an information file, and importantly introduced with your guide.

Trekking Crews:

We will provide government registered, well-trained English Speaking guide, who holds enough knowledge about responsible tourism and eco-friendly tourism

We will also provide an assistant guide who is ready to help you with every situation.

We will provide a porter is provided to every two of you, and he will be carrying not more than 25kg.

We get our crews’ life get insured.

Certificate:

After the trek is over, you will be provided with ANTE adventure certificate.

Size of Group:

Trekking Group Size of our group can range from two people to ten people. In case you want to travel alone, do not hesitate to write to us. We will plan accordingly. In case, you more than ten people, please do let us know so that we can develop and improvise plans and itinerary.

Acclimatization:

Trekking to the Annapurna Region is as much difficult as it is technical. We give special priority to its technical sides as well. For this, we have designed an itinerary to allow you to get acclimatize naturally. We know the particular location you need to stay for rest, and the particular distance you need to walk slowly and so on. In case you get high altitude sickness, we have crews who know how to deal with it effectively and smartly.

How to respond to Altitude Sickness?

  • Please do carry a first aid box
  • Please consult your physician
  • Please do keep on informing our crews if you feel uneasy
  • Please do walk in the group so that you can help each other

Travel Insurance:

We would like to recommend you to get your trekking insured. Since you are trekking in probably one of the wildest and challenging routes, you need to be cautious of anything inevitable. You may need helicopter evacuation and get your trip canceled. You may get injured and get your baggage theft and so on.

Permits and fees:

The government local body charges some small amount of fee for every you make to the World heritage sites, Conservation areas, National Parks, and restricted areas along climbing. The price we charge includes all the fees.

If you want to book a trekking package with Amazing Nepal Trek and Expedition and still wondering about the essential equipment for your trekking journey, here we are more than happy to offer our checklist for your references. Please make necessary amendments to our checklist as per your need and convenience. For some case, if you couldn’t get any of these listed equipment/gears in your hometown or you’re in a rush before you fly to Kathmandu, don’t worry! The listed necessary items mentioned below can be easily purchased here.
Except for your day pack, all luggage will be carried by porters. A porter is available for two people who will carry maximum up to 25 kg. So, you have to be careful while packing your bag or luggage.
 
Moreover, there is an allowance of 15kg per person on domestic flights. Additional personal items are not needed for the trekking portion of the trip which can be kept in the hotel’s storage room without extra cost.
